Speak

Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson

Right now, I have finished reading Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson

It's about a girl named Melinda Sordino who is living in an animosity. Everyone in her junior-high give her looks and dislikes, but they don't know why she called the cops. Because of the party, she doesn't want to talk to anyone and they don't want to talk to her. Melinda is on her own, suffering through boring classes and explosive parents who argue with each other all the time. This book follows the life of Melinda Sordino after the party, through her life of hatred and acceptance. Because of the party, she doesn't want to talk to anyone and they don't want to talk to her.

Laurie Halse Anderson based this story on the same problems as herself and many other teenagers. She believed that this was the problem that all students were having: acceptance by peers. The true meaning of acceptance entails about many teens in our everyday life has been stressed out with how much they want to be accepted into society. Anderson developed this theme by listening to many apprehensive teens. Attending to them, this inspired her to write a novel that would speak to them. Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong, how everyone judges you?

This book was very good, I would say. It follows a life that many teenagers can relate to: grades, acceptance and courage. The fact that this story shows the true debts of who your friends REALLY are, made me realize the struggles others can face around me. I find it suspenseful because we all know there's an ending, but the way this darkly funny book has me on edge to wondering where the ending would go? There is some language that is in-appropriate at times, but many teens probably have heard them before, because that is partially social life now.

I hope everyone reading this can read Speak, which I believe is a good-relatable book to everyone.
